Jason leads the Engineering practice. He has spent more than 27 years in technology, moving from hands-on software development into solution architecture and technical pre-sales. His aim as Practice Lead is a simple one: define what good looks like, make it repeatable, and develop the people who deliver it.

In Jason's words

I've been working in the software industry for nearly three decades, and the photo proves it's taken its toll! Over that period I've worked on some fantastic projects with a great team of people, and I'm looking forward to more of the same.

AI-assisted development has allowed me to get back 'on the tools' again, and I'm really interested to see how this shapes the industry over the next few years, once the hype settles down.

I enjoy solving problems and fixing things, and not just as part of the day job: rebuilding a Mk1 Golf GTI over 20 years, extensive DIY, all at the same time as parenting. As if I didn't have enough to do, I've also been coaching junior rugby union for eight years.

  • Setting and maintaining the engineering standards CDS teams work to across every client
  • Building shared, reusable resources that teams actually use, from scoping templates to reference material
  • Mentoring and developing engineers at every level
  • Championing CDS's engineering capability with clients and in new work

Background

Jason's career spans web, cloud, low-code and network security platforms, much of it in demanding UK public sector environments across policing and defence where rigorous standards are not optional. More recently he has built the operating frameworks and shared resources that let a function work at scale.
